The Statutes of the International Association of Safe Injection Technology provide the following:
- There shall be two (2) classes of members:

Full membership shall consist of individuals or organizations currently manufacturing safety injection technology including but not limited to auto disable technology (i.e. manufacturers in Europe whoa re currently selling technology and have appropriate approvals; US manufacturers wh currently have commercially available technology i.e. FDA permission to market).
"Manufacturer" means the natural or legal person with responsibility for the design, manufacture, packaging and labelling of a device before it is placed on the market under his own name, regardless of whether these operations are carried out by that person himself or on his behalf by a third party.
(Annual Membership Fee covering June to May: USD2,500.00)
Associate membership shall consist of individuals or organizations developing safe injection technology including but not limited to auto disable technology (no sales). This class to include inventors, developers, engineers, and entrepreneurs who have not yet received appropriate approvals for the commercial sale of their technology. It shall also consist of individuals or organizations involved in government, public health, medical research, educational sectors, or parties interested in preventing reuse of syringes through the development of safe injection technology.
