The International Association of Safe Injection Technology (IASIT) promotes the use of the most immediate and efficient methods to ensure safe injections worldwide. As a non-profit association established in Switzerland in 2001 and composed of manufacturers of safe injection technology, IASIT has a vital role in the struggle to ensure safe injections globally. We are an industry association consisting of members dedicated to bringing safe injection technologies to the market.
As such, IASIT provides industry members' input on standard setting and regulations, promotes innovation and proliferation of safe injection technology and disseminates information to the community and policy-makers alike.
Moreover, IASIT subscribes to the WHO's "No Harm Policy": A safe injection does not harm the recipient, does not expose the healthcare worker to any avoidable risk and does not result in waste that is dangerous for the community.
Injections are the most common health care procedure worldwide. In developing and transitional countries alone, some 16 billion injections are given each year.
Therefore, safe injections and safe injections practices are essential in order to ensure the appropriate health standards, prevent the transmission of diseases and assure the safety of both recipients and health care workers. Today, unsafe injections and practices continue in most parts of the world. Moreover, unsafe collection and disposal of used sharps expose health care workers and the community to risk of injury or resale.
IASIT and its members clearly understand the importance of the community in the fight for safe injections. The community has accepted the challenge and the IASIT works actively towards more responsible and safe delivery of injections.
